Born Aamir Hussain Khan on 14 March 1965) is an Indian film actor, director and producer who has established himself as one of the leading actors of Hindi cinema. Hewas born to film producer Tahir Hussain and Zeenat. He has two siblings – Faisal Khan and Nikhat. He married Reena Dutta on April 18, 1986 and has a son Junaid and daughter Ira from this marriage. They divorced in 2002 and he subsequently tied the knot with Kiran Rao in 2005.
Khan began his film career as a child actor in a home production, made by Nasir Hussain, titledYaadon Ki Baraat (1973) and Madhosh (1974). Eleven years later, he made his adult acting debut in Ketan Mehta's Holi (1984). His first major hit film was Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak which released in the year 1988..
Since then he has went on to act in more than 40films. Since then he has also become a Producer & also Film director.
The Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri in 2003 and the Padma Bhushan in 2010 for his contributions towards Indian cinema.
